Barkley's Jewel Box!

We just returned from a great, but fast visit to Charlottesville, VA for a trunk show. Despite the rain we had an awesome turnout! Thank you to our hosts Barkley and Bryce - who were so fun and welcoming. The jewelry looked right at home in Barkley's fabulous Turquoise Green dining room. I couldnt help but walk around and take pictures to share of her home (and daughter Marion).
Barkley and her family moved to Charlottesville after living in Hong Kong for two years. Her home reflects her travels overseas. Below is an antique childs embroidered collar- look at the detail of the matt- stunning!

Her dining room has this cool silver ceiling and turquoise strie walls. It is like a jewel box.

Here are other images from her living room and study. Love this fabric.

Inspiration Wall

I just found these images that I took of my inspiration board from my Atlanta office. Stylecourt did a cool post on it here. I wish i had room for a huge bulletin board like this in my office now. The designs in some of the sketches on the board seem so dated to me now. Oh well...part of the design process. We made this bulletin board out of foam core that was already that color blue from Sam Flax.

Juliska

I attended a wonderful shower this past weekend for a bride-to-be. She received so many beautiful things, I loved the choices she made in her registry. She registered for the Juliska everyday china and it was so stunning. Then i ran across their recent ad campaign. How gorgeous are these images. Can you register even if you arent getting married?

Michael Kors Craze

I am late to the game on the Michael Kors craze. But recently everything I have complimented someone on has been MK. He is on fire. I am a huge Project Runway fan but have never stepped foot in one of his stores. I have a feeling that is about to change. Check out the images below for his spring collection. Casually cool and chic. Love it.

I think you could squeeze some underwear under this if you wanted too..

Images from Who What Wear
Here are some images from his fall collection. I would wear every single one of these looks, minus the hats. It makes me want to get a real job just so I can get dressed up and leave the house in some nice gray wool.
Image above from Runway Daily

As suspected it appears that Michael Kors has great taste in his home as well. His clean interiors seem to mimic his new collection. What do you think?

Portrait Love!

Portraits are some of my favorite pieces of art. Each one tells a story and captures a moment in time. I am in awe of portrait artists because I think it is so incredibly hard to paint a face, not to mention paint it to resemble the right person. My aunt Vicki has been a painter for a very long time and has started doing portriats of her grand children. I jumped at her offer to work on a portrait of our 4 year olds. I think she did an incredible job. I love her use of color (all which will match my house- I know all the artists out there are cringing!). Thanks Aunt VIc, I love it!

Here is the image I gave her:

Where do you hang your portriats? And how should i frame it? Ideas please!

Atlanta: We love it!

I am slowly recovering from a long weekend in Atlanta. Our time there was packed with loads of shopping, massive amounts of laughter and lots of late night dancing. It was great to be back in the city we love so much. We hit up some of our old favorite haunts as well as some new (to us) spots. Here are the highlights:

First Stop: Drinks in the Highlands followed by Yacht Rock at the Dark Horse Tavern.

This was a brand new spot for us. It was awesome. Kinda like the Sleepy Poet in Charlotte. I cannot believe the whole time I lived in Atlanta I never knew about this place. The space is 25,000 sq feet with over 100 booths, packed with great vintage and fun finds. It is located in Decatur and totally worth the trip. Bryce bought this super funky chair. I bought barware, books, a crazy portrait and a vintage belt.

Dinner and Drinks at Bistro Niko, followed by Johnnys Hideaway
You know it is a good sign when you wish you could have the same meal 2 nights in a row. Everyone is going to be embarrassed when i announce that the meal was a Croque Monsieur. Even though I am well known for ordering off the childrens menu- this sammy was no joke. I could eat it every night for a week. The restaurant is in Buckhead and is relatively new. It was the perfect spot for our crowd. Great atmosphere and great french food. And they put up with our loud and disorderly crew (who later triumphed in an old school dance-off at Johnnys Hideaway).

The Stalls
It is so fun to shop antiques in Atlanta - High and Low. I love checking out The Stalls on Bennett street to get inspiration. There are always so many beautiful things. I fell in love with the following:

After a big lunch at Houstons we were all dragging a bit. Bryce decided to give this bad boy a test run.

Estate Sale
Last but not least we did a spontaneous turn into an Estate Sale off of West Paces Ferry. Usually hitting these things late in the afternoon does not bring good results. However we found some treasures! I wish i had more photos to show.

Other hot spots we hit while in town- Bungalow on Howell Mill, B.D Jeffries and Erica Reid on Roswell, Barneys Co-Op at Phipps Plaza, and Juan's Garage on Howell Mill.

Atlanta friends we love and miss you!
