Dixie Hwy - Part I

I just returned from a trip to visit my family in South Florida. My mom and I spent most of our three days on Dixie Highway, the West Palm Beach Antique Expo and Northwood Rd. It was a very successful and inspiring trip, even if I didnt get to work on my tan much. I have some major spots to share and need to take the time to write it all up. In the meantime I want to share my favorite store of the weekend:

J Gallery - 5105 S. Dixie Hwy, West Palm Beach, FL 33405, shop: 561-540-4314

I was very excited to find this store after looking at some of the very high end shops on Dixie Hwy. Jay Millstein owns the shop, he has very reasonable prices and such an interesting mix of Palm Beach decor. He has a little bit of everything. We definitely walked away with some exciting buys. I got a pair of X-benches to recover and mom bought some fab white lamps. I was drooling over a set of Chinese chippendale chairs with pink leather seats (they were already sold, which made me want them more). Jay was a great resource for the area too. He said Kelly Wearstler brought Cameron Diaz in there recently! Oh and Carleton Varney just wrote this article about him in the Palm Beach Daily News. You can call him and have things shipped as well. He is so friendly and fun to chat with! Check out his website for his newest additions here or email him at millsteinmodern@comcast.net

1800$ for this set of 8 chairs

$150 for this cute bench!

Mom walked away with this awesome lamp. I might need to borrow it...

Southern Style

I just stumbled on this great interview in Garden & Gun with Capitol owner Laura Vinroot Poole. I love the way she describes the South:

G & G: Everywhere I look, I see Southern designers wearing their "Southerness" on their sleeve. That hasn't always been the way in fashion. Why do you think Southern style is so compelling right now?

LVP: Because Southerners have the best taste! Seriously, I think the South is one of the last authentic things left. We are also very proud, very set in our ways, very dramatic, and often very creative. All good things if you want a career in fashion.

Watch out

There is a new blog in town. The one and only Kelly Wearstler has started her blog "My Vibe, My Life". Very excited to follow it. Check it out here.
